The number of new coronavirus infections in Saxony is at a high level. On Friday, the incidence, i.e. the number of new infections reported per 100,000 inhabitants within seven days, was 53, according to the Federal Ministry of Health's pandemic radar. This is the second-highest figure in Germany behind Saxony-Anhalt (59). Across Germany, the incidence on Friday was 30.

The highest incidences are observed in infants, followed by the 65+ age group, as the Saxon Ministry of Health announced on Friday in response to an inquiry. Since the beginning of October, a total of 87 people in the state have died from or with a Sars-CoV-2 infection. These were patients aged between 65 and 98 years.
