Bundesliga handball club SC DHfK Leipzig has made important personnel decisions. As the Saxons announced on Wednesday, the expiring contracts with captain Simon Ernst have been extended until 2026 and center Moritz Preuss until 2025. Both key players are currently injured. The 28-year-old Preuss tore a ligament in his carpal bone and will be out until the end of the year, while the 29-year-old Ernst is suffering from muscular problems.
"I'm gradually getting in better and better shape and want to repay the trust the club has placed in me every week on the pitch," Preuss was quoted as saying in the press release. "I can see the potential in our team and want to work on it every day in order to shape a successful time with the boys in the coming years." After a bumpy start to the season, Leipzig have recently consolidated their position and are currently in ninth place in the Bundesliga, where they face Rhein-Neckar Löwen in Mannheim on Thursday (19:00/ Dyn).
