A fatal accident overshadowed the Nino de Angelo concert planned for Thursday at the Arena Leipzig. A 53-year-old production worker fell from a cherry picker from a height of seven meters and later succumbed to his injuries. It turned out that only three of the four support arms of the cherry picker were extended, which caused it to tip over. Police and the public prosecutor's office are currently investigating whether the accident was self-inflicted or caused by a third party.
Public prosecutor Ricardo Schulz announced that a death investigation is underway and a post-mortem examination has been ordered. The Leipzig concert was postponed until December, while the concert on Friday took place in Hanover. Nino de Angelo expressed his shock there: "What happened yesterday is so bad."
The singer expressed his dismay and asked for understanding for the postponement of the concert in an Instagram video.
The statement from concert organizer Concertbüro Zahlmann also emphasized that their thoughts are with the relatives.
The investigation is still ongoing and a final result from the public prosecutor's office to clarify the circumstances of the accident is still pending.
