A large number of the measures for the Saxon Hydrogen Strategy published at the beginning of last year have been processed or implemented, according to the Saxon Energy Ministry.

"We need green hydrogen for the energy turnaround. Even more so because we want Saxony to remain an energy and industrial state," said Saxony's Energy Minister Wolfram Günther on Tuesday after presenting the first implementation report to the cabinet in Dresden. Saxony needs the production of green hydrogen as well as the transport capacities, storage and use.

Accordingly, the spectrum of 24 measures ranges from science to technology promotion and support of EU-wide significant projects to the bundling and transfer of competencies.

"Saxon stakeholders in the field of hydrogen have not only worked on the hydrogen strategy with commitment, but are also at the forefront of its implementation." According to Günther, government agencies, research, companies and associations are making a very significant contribution to ensuring that Saxony's hydrogen economy is on a very good path toward market ramp-up.

Specifically, the strategy is directed at the areas of energy, science, industry, mobility and structural development. Thus, Saxony wants to strengthen hydrogen in science and research and push applications in industry and transport.

As a central institution, for example, a Saxon Hydrogen Competence Center was created at the end of last year, which bundles and mediates all hydrogen actors and projects as well as networking with Saxony's neighboring countries and states.
